Fernie Native Travels the World to Write

 Dawnelle Salant is a freelance travel writer and aspiring children’s author. Growing up in Fernie, Dawnelle always expressed a desire to see the rest of the world. A Language Arts/ESL Education Degree from the University of Calgary enabled Dawnelle to pursue her love of travel while realizing her dream of working with children. To date, she has spent six years traveling the world and teaching in international schools in Guatemala, England and Turkey.
While exploring the world as an English teacher, Dawnelle became interested in travel publications. Her love for writing developed as she searched for ways to share her remarkable experiences with family, friends, and eventually, the rest of the world. Writing children’s books has given her an opportunity to combine her passion for writing with her love for children and her teaching career. She is currently living in Fernie where she is completing a Writer’s Bureau course, writing for travel publications and working on her next novel.
