Delich Wins NCAA Giant Slalom National Title

 University of New Mexico women's Alpine skier Jennifer Delich took home the 2004 NCAA Giant Slalom title today in Sugar Bowl, Calif. Delich, a senior from Fernie, British Columbia, edged Colorado's Erika Hogan by 0.49 seconds for the title. Delich is the ninth Lobo to win an NCAA individual title in school history and is the first to win a women's Giant Slalom title.
This is Delich's first NCAA title and her second All-American award. This is also Delich's first collegiate win in the Giant Slalom, after finishing the regular season ranked fifth in the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association standings.
As a team the Lobos are in third place with 155 points after the men's and women's Giant Slalom events at the 2004 NCAA Championships hosted by the University of Nevada. Denver leads with 188 points while Vermont is in second place with 168 points. Middleberry is in fourth place (150), followed by Utah at 137 points.
