T'is the season... to ski dry light powder
This morning I awoke to the sound of avalanche bombs bringing down wind slabs at Fernie Alpine Resort. It's a familiar boom in the valley and one that I haven't heard for a few months.
Anyone who was at FAR yesterday felt the bite of the winds at -15c. Despite the wind the snow was as-good-as-it-gets, light and seemingly bottomless. And it's still snowing!
On my second climb yesterday Dave and I headed into Mtn Goat territory and tasted the rewards of steep and deep. See the shots of the entrance and exit of an unnamed chute into Lizard bowl.
Today's a rest day as the countdown begins for the grand opening on Saturday. With any luck the cat-ski operations will also be up and running for a total powder weekend binge.
Get out and enjoy!
