Island Lake Lodge

I had little sleep on a snowy Tuesday night as I knew I would be up at the crack of dawn on my way to cat snowboard at Island Lake Lodge. The anticipation grew as we were shuttled from the guest parking lot to the lodge. Gaining elevation, the snow got deeper and deeper! Over a foot of fresh dry snow had fallen that night at the Lake. It was going to be a fabulous day!

We opened up Mount Fernie for the season, being the first to ski and board it. My face was frozen from face shots and a snowy grin ear to ear! From Mount Fernie we ventured over to Mount Baldy, by this time the cloud cleared up and we had beautiful blue bird skies and 360 degree visibility of Cedar Valley. More untracked powder was ridden and the fun had just began as the group got more adventurous and started taking bigger airs and faster lines. If you ended up at the cat with a helmet full of snow we knew you took a bail, not cause of the snow but from the smile on your face!

Not just another ski day, this one will be remembered for years.

A cat is like a tank version of a taxi.
